Phyllis Knight gave a delightful demonstration of her mixed media technique. In doing mixed media, she encourages artists to "relax and play with the paint.“ She began with an under painting, added collage pieces of handmade oriental papers, and then painted again. For this demo she used acrylic, but she also does mixed media with watercolor or oil. She used an acrylic polymer medium to glue on the paper.
Phyllis Knight's paintings are generally oil, watercolor, or mixed media that can include watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels long with hand made textured papers.
She has taught art in public school, community college and private workshops. To continue her education she travels extensively Columnist Anita Grey said, "Phyllis Knight uses color and texture to create a painting the way violinists use their instruments to interpret music."
Her work is currently exhibited at several galleries in the southeast in addition to being part of private and commercial collections worldwide. |
